Use of Speech Techniques as an Intervention for Singers With Vocal Injury

Title

Use of Speech Techniques as an Intervention for Singers With Vocal Injury

Description

The voice is a tool and instrument most taken for granted. From whispering in a library to singing in the shower, our voices are capable of more than we give them credit for, and thus are quite prone to injury. In order to help ourselves and our key way of communicating, it is crucial to understand how the voice works. The goal of this research is to analyze speech techniques, such as straw phonation and daily mucosal ceiling testing, and use them as an intervention to test their usefulness and effectiveness on singers with vocal injury.
