Title

An Exploration of Westminster Choir College:
a Written and Musical Analysis of its History and Personal Impacts

Description

The need for this project, as originally envisioned, arose from the curious lack of music describing the history and impacts that Westminster Choir College has had on its community.
The closest I was able to find were works such as Voices of Light, commissioned to Stephen Paulus to celebrate Westminster’s 75th anniversary, or the once-yearly pieces written by the Theory faculty that would be premiered at Westminster’s Fall Convocation, usually carrying some sort of message to the students. This project, in the form of this paper and the
accompanying multi-movement musical composition, aims to address that lacking void, and to encourage others to continue to write music about Westminster to fill that void.
