Harmony: A Diverse Music Archive
Title
Harmony: A Diverse Music Archive
Description
This capstone focuses on the development of a diverse music archive. It was created in hopes of providing a more accessible and relevant resource for music educators in the general music classroom. Harmony: The Diverse Music Archive celebrates and fosters virtue through historical context, possible objectives, and analysis of music written by Black, Idigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). This archive was established in order to pave a path for a more inclusive and compassionate future. A variety of problematic factors prompted the creation of this repository, including studies on potential political issues in music education and their harmful implications. Discussions throughout this capstone revolve around the usage of internationalization, intersectionality, white framework, and the portrayal of one's ethnicity, culture, and experiences, as well as the educational content that educators may select for the general music classroom. This capstone's ultimate purpose is to encourage a more educated and diversified portrayal of BIPOC culture in schools.
